MISSION & motto

Cullman City Primary School is committed to providing a safe learning environment that will foster success for every student to reach his or her fullest potential. At CCPS, we believe that it is important to care for and notice the “Best You” in others and that every individual should strive to be his or her “Best Me.”  Each of us is also part of a community and world that is bigger than each individual. Therefore, we believe that together we can be our “Best We.”

Our Motto is: Best You, Best Me, Best We

CCPS goals

At CCPS we know that success for our students is dependent on having a schoolwide focus.  Our focus is driven by our Achievement Goal, our Growth Goal, and our Climate and Culture Goal.

Our Achievement Goal

  • By the end of the 2026–2027 school year, at least 93% of second-grade students will demonstrate ELA sufficiency as measured by the state-approved ELA assessment.

Our Growth Goal

  • By the end of the 2026–2027 school year, the percentage of kindergarten students who demonstrate proficiency in orally counting from 0 to 100 by ones and tens and counting backward from 10 will increase from 30% to 50%, as evidenced by Kindergarten Standards-Based Report Cards.

Our Climate & Culture Goal

  • By May 2027, Cullman City Primary School will implement a consistent attendance monitoring process by reviewing daily attendance reports, identifying students with consecutive attendance concerns, and documenting follow-up with families, resulting in 100% of students with consecutive attendance concerns receiving documented communication with families and at least 95% of staff responding "Agree" or "Strongly Agree" on the Staff Climate and School Culture Survey to the statement: "If a student is absent, there is a teacher or some other adult at the school who will notice and follow up on the absence.

MORE about us

Cullman City Primary School is a K-2 school which began serving the youngest students in the Cullman City School system in 1995.

CCPS is the hub of early learning for Cullman City Schools. We have master teachers and staff here at CCPS who are highly trained to develop each child’s potential. We have been recognized throughout the years with several awards including the International Reading Award for Exemplary Reading Award for the state of Alabama and the CLAS school of distinction award for our Board Game Days.  Most recently, Cullman City Primary School earned the National Louisa Moats Award. This award recognizes excellence in teaching the science of reading. This is a testimony of our teachers’ dedication to their students and their determination to ensure the success of every child in our building. Currently, we have 7 teachers who have earned their National Board Teaching credentials and many CCPS teachers have completed the LETRS ( language essentials for teachers of reading and spelling) course work.

Our staff has implemented these best practice strategies into their classrooms and this has enabled our school to show great academic gains.

Every school year, we look to improve teaching and learning for our students and staff. We realize that students must be able to identify and regulate their emotions in order to learn in school.

It is our goal to educate the whole child at CCPS in an environment that is nurturing, cheerful and memorable. CCPS is a magical place and we know you and your child will have a great experience.
