A Message from Dr. Shaddix

Last week was another wonderful week of learning and opportunities at CCPS!
We celebrated our first CCPS Golden Apples. Congratulations to these students for being positive role models for their peers!
On Friday, our Pre-K and kindergarten students attended the Community Helper Parade. We are so fortunate to live in a community where our citizens believe in educating our youngest students about the important roles of community helpers. A special thank-you to Mrs. Marci Watts for organizing this wonderful event!
Governor Ivey, Alabama’s governor, has declared September 25 an official proclamation as Dolly Day in Alabama to celebrate Dolly Parton’s extraordinary life, musical legacy, and lifelong dedication to children’s literacy. In honor of Dolly Day, CCPS celebrated with a special treat for our teachers and CCPS’s first Story Walk! A special thank-you to Mrs. Nix, our school librarian, for organizing this wonderful experience for our students in our Outdoor Learning Center.
We anticipate another great week at CCPS!
Parents, please make sure you are completing the activities in your child’s homework binder. We also ask that you listen to your student read or read to your student for a minimum of 20 minutes each day. Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s learning and love of reading!

Important Information

Flu Clinic

In partnership with HNH Immunizations & Health Heroes, on-site flu vaccinations will be offered to students on September 28. Flu clinics will be offered at each school location during school hours. Health Heroes flu vaccination clinics are completely voluntary and offered to students age 5 and up, with the exception of students with Alabama PEEHIP insurance. Students with PEEHIP insurance may participate in the PEEHIP flu clinics.

Vaccines are provided at NO COST to students, parents, schools or local/state government. Qualifying uninsured students can be given the vaccine, free of charge. Although student participation is voluntary, these vaccinations are recommended to help keep schools healthy and cut down on high absenteeism. IIV-4 injections will be available to all consented children who do not have any contra-indicators. All vaccines given are preservative-free, mercury-free, Thimerosal-free and administered by state-licensed nurses.

If you wish for your child to participate, please COMPLETELY fill out and sign a consent form. These forms need to be returned to school as soon as possible to secure a dose for your child. If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the School Nurse. You can also find more information at www.healthherousa.com. Flu Consent Form
