Strong Academic Foundation
Sharon Drake

At CCPS, we understand the importance of a strong academic foundation.  It is our goal to provide our students with the strongest academic foundation possible.

A strong academic foundation in grades K-2 is paramount for shaping the trajectory of a child's educational journey and future success. These early years serve as the building blocks upon which all future learning is constructed. In kindergarten through second grade, children are introduced to fundamental skills such as reading, writing, and basic mathematics, which form the cornerstone of their academic abilities. This foundation not only equips them with essential knowledge but also instills confidence and a love for learning that will propel them forward in their educational endeavors. Moreover, early literacy and numeracy skills lay the groundwork for future academic achievements, empowering students to tackle more complex concepts as they progress through school. By prioritizing a strong academic foundation in these critical formative years, educators and caregivers can provide children with the tools they need to thrive academically, unlocking their full potential and setting them on a path towards lifelong learning and success.
