About CCPS
Who We Are
Cullman City Primary School is a K-2 school which began serving the youngest students in the Cullman City School system in 1995.
CCPS is the hub of early learning for Cullman City Schools. We have master teachers and staff here at CCPS who are highly trained to develop each child’s potential. We have been recognized throughout the years with several awards including the International Reading Award for Exemplary Reading Award for the state of Alabama and the CLAS school of distinction award for our Board Game Days. Most recently, Cullman City Primary School earned the National Louisa Moats Award. This award recognizes excellence in teaching the science of reading. This is a testimony of our teachers’ dedication to their students and their determination to ensure the success of every child in our building. Currently, we have 7 teachers who have earned their National Board Teaching credentials and many CCPS teachers have completed the LETRS ( language essentials for teachers of reading and spelling) course work.
Our staff has implemented these best practice strategies into their classrooms and this has enabled our school to show great academic gains. For the 20-21 school year, 93% of our students are meeting or exceeding the DIBELS 8th composite score.
Every school year, we look to improve teaching and learning for our students and staff. We realize that students must be able to identify and regulate their emotions in order to learn in school. During the summer of 2021, students and staff will be trained in the Zones of Regulation. Social and emotional learning strategies will be one of our focus areas this year.
It is our goal to educate the whole child at CCPS in an environment that is nurturing, cheerful and memorable. CCPS is a magical place and we know you and your child will have a great experience.
Our motto is "Best You, Best Me, Best We!"
